Overview of the Program
Are you an occupational, speech or physical therapist, nurse, teacher, special educator, social worker, or experienced nanny? Do you love children and making a difference? If the answer is yes, you can travel and experience a new part of the United States or explore Australia while gaining valuable experience to add to your resume on the Apex Social program.
Our program has been specially designed to be a work-related travel position for 1-2 years allowing you to gain professional experience while living and working with a family and growing personally, as well.

Newborn and Toddler Care
Special Needs Program
Apex Social is dedicated to working with families who have children with special needs – allowing you to put your professional experience to work in a practical setting. Many of our care professionals have the opportunity to work closely with the child’s local therapists to support therapy homework and other practices in a home setting.
Approximately 80% of our host families have children with special needs including:
- Autism spectrum disorder, including Asperger’s syndrome
- Attention deficit disorder (ADD)
- Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
- Epilepsy and seizures
- Down syndrome and other genetic conditions
- Diabetes
- Neurological disabilities
- Developmental delays
- Cerebral palsy
- Learning disabilities
- Undiagnosed/severe conditions
- Mental and physical delays
Special Needs care professionals have a wide variety of responsibilities which may include:
- Provide care and a supportive environment for all children in the home
- Create stimulating and supportive learning in daily life
- Work with a child’s integrated therapy team and lead therapy homework
- Strategically find fun ways to incorporate fine motor/gross motor skills in the daily routine
- Provide support with daily hygiene and related care needs
- Drive to and from school, appointments and activities
- Maintain open communication with parents, sharing your ideas and feedback
Education Support
Our Educators are typically preschool and elementary teachers with early childhood or special education degrees. Accustomed to teaching children in a classroom setting, they are able to provide educational support for children of various ages, help children with homework, provide virtual learning support and reinforce or establish routines – everything from study habits to regular chores around the house – easing the transition when parents re-engage after a busy work day.
Apex Educators have a wide range of tasks that may include:
- Designing and implementing lessons
- Using activities to motivate and encourage learning
- Supervising remote learning lessons
- Setting and managing a weekly schedule
- Introducing age-appropriate activities (art, outdoor play, reading time)
- Helping with homework
- Providing subject-specific tutoring assistance
- Preparing healthy meals
- Providing “after school” activities & care
- Maintaining open communication with parents and providing feedback
Newborn and Toddler Care
Our professional newborn & toddler caregivers either have extensive experience caring for infants or degrees in Pediatric Nursing or Early Childhood Development. This specialized care provides parents of infants with an extra set of capable, professional hands. The program is also ideal for parents of infant multiples, as well as parents who have an infant and older children.
Our professional infant care candidates help with:
- Bottle feeding
- Introducing solid foods
- Bathing baby
- Soothing and calming baby
- Helping with colic, teething or other common infant-related conditions
- Age-appropriate activities such as tummy time, holding objects, etc.
- Helping baby establish a routine
- Managing baby’s laundry and other tasks such as bottle sterilizing, etc.
- Maintaining communication with parents about baby’s daily activities
