Qualifications
To become an Apex Social Care Professional, you should have a child-related certification or degree and/or be pursuing a degree in an educational, medical or therapeutic field. You also must be able to demonstrate at least 400 hours of childcare experience. Alternatively, if you do not have a degree, you should have a minimum of 1 year (2,000 hours) of childcare experience. As many of our host families have children and young adults with special needs, having a year or more experience working with individuals with special needs is highly desirable.

Requirements
- Age: American care professionals must be at least 18 years old for the US and candidates for Australia must be between 18-30 years old due to visa limitations
- Experience: Have a minimum of 400 hours of experience caring for children which can include care for children ages 0-18 in home, classroom, therapy or daycare settings. Care for siblings or other relatives does not qualify
- Education: Be a student or graduate in a relevant field of study
- Legal Status: Be a US Citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States
- References: Have two outstanding childcare references and one personal reference
- Language: Be fluent in English
- Duration: Be willing to make a minimum 12-month commitment
- Background: Pass a criminal background check
- Driver’s License: Have a valid driver’s license and driving experience Relocation: Be able to move and relocate and do a live-in position
