How to file an Insurance Claim

Below you will find instructions for submitting an application to HanseMerkur. Please follow the steps carefully to ensure quick and smooth processing of your documents.

Step 1

Go to: www.hmrv.de/schadenmeldung/online-schadenmeldung to start your insurance claim.

Are you insured with a credit card?
Please select „NO.“

Policy Number:
Number can be found on your HanseMerkur insurance policy.

Email address:
Please enter your personal email address.

What would you like to claim?
Please select „Insured event during your time abroad“ / „Please select „Versicherungsfall während einer Auslandsreise.“.

Step 2

Name and address:
Please enter your German address, date of birth and contact details.

Did you take out the insurance?
Please select „NO.“

Has the insurance been taken out by a company (such as your employer)?
Please select „YES.“

Step 3

Which person(s) would you like to report an insured event for?

Copy details from the reporting person
Please check the box.

Copy address data from the policyholder
Do not check box.

Nationality:
Please select your nationality.

Alternative Policy Number:
Please leave empty, unless you have an additional private travel insurance.

Departure / Beginning of Stay abroad:
Enter your program start date / US arrival date.

Is the return / program end date known?
Select „NO“.

What was the reason for the journey?
Select „Au Pair Work“ from the drop down.

Destination / Country:
Select „United States of America“.

Do not click the „Add another Person“ button!

Step 4

Records of supporting documents:

Desired refund currency:
Select „Germany – Euro – EUR“ from the drop down.

NOTE: HanseMerkur will not refund to US Bank accounts.

Which costs are you claiming? – Supporting document no. 1 for Invoice

Country of invoice:
Select the country where the incident occurred.

Type of injured event:
Select the reason for your claim.
NOTE: Depending on your selection of injured event, multiple options become available. Please select the choices for your claim.

Amount of costs (original currency):
Enter total amount of your invoice.

Original currency:
Select the currency from your invoice.

Expected refund:
Enter total amount of your invoice.

Upload of Invoice
Click the „Select File“ button to upload your invoice(s).

Have you already reported the underlying insured event using this online claim form before?
Select „NO“ if this is a new claim.
Select „YES“ only if this is an addition to an existing claim.

Step 6

Reimbursement account

Bank account in the EU or SEPA Euro area?

Enter the name, place and country of the bank.

Please select „YES“ and enter your German bank account information.

NOTE: HanseMerkur will not refund to US Bank accounts.

Please send us the following documents so that we can process the claim for you

Insurance Policy Document:
Upload the insurance document you received from Apex Social.

Proof of start of journey:
Upload a copy of your arrival flight document.
