To be considered for Apex Social’s professional care program, you should have completed your degree or vocational training in the social care sector, be able to demonstrate at least 400 hours of childcare experience and meet our admissions requirements.

Admission Requirements

  • Age: Be 20-26 years old for the USA and 27-30 years old for Australia
  • Experience: Have a minimum of 400 hours of experience caring for children you aren’t related to (if you want to work with children under two years old, you need a minimum of 200 hours with children ages 0-2 years old)
  • Education: Hold a degree or vocational training in the social care sector
  • References: Have two childcare references and one personal reference complete the Apex Social reference form
  • English: Be able to speak English at a basic level
  • Duration: Be willing to go for a minimum of 12 months to the USA or Australia (US only: extension option of an additional 6, 9, or 12 months)
  • Reside in Germany, Austria, Switzerland or Australia (note, only those with German passports may apply for the Australian program)
  • Status: Be unmarried and without children
  • Background: Pass a criminal background check (or its recognized equivalent)
  • Health: Be in good health and a non-smoker (participants must complete a physical)
  • Driver: Having a driver’s license and driving experience are optional, but an advantage
