Since 2007, apex social has been helping young people to achieve their dream of living and working in the USA or Australia. Learn more from our German founder, Susan Asay, about why our program is the right one for your son or daughter.

Dear Parents,

Your son or daughter is interested in living and working abroad in the USA or Australia as a social care professional. As a parent, you probably have many questions and concerns. We understand. We’d like to share information about the benefits of the apex social program, our support structure, and our years of experience helping young people to experience their dream of living abroad.

We have run a successful program since 2007. In the USA, apex is one of only 15 agencies designated by the U.S. Department of State and our program is regulated by strict government guidelines to protect the health, safety and welfare of our participants.

Working abroad as a social care professional is an excellent opportunity for your child to gain valuable professional experience in his or her field. For most social care professionals, finding work abroad can be difficult. But, thanks to our unique visa opportunities, young people in social professions have the opportunity to grow professionally while experiencing life in another country.

Unlike many international programs for young people, our program only works with young professionals – those with a degree or significant vocational training. Our host families value the skills and expertise that our candidates provide – and our candidates are constantly putting their training into practice through their day-to-day activities. This also means that your daughter or son’s CV will show continuous work experience – especially important in Germany where gaps in a CV are discouraged.

But our program offers more than just professional experience – it also offers opportunities for personal development, growth and independence. Many parents comment on the positive ways in which their child has changed following a year abroad. Skills such as independence, self-awareness, empathy, individual drive, and flexibility are often strengthened after time spent in a foreign country.

In addition, there is nothing that can improve an individual’s English skills more than living in an English-speaking country. All participants experience significant improvement in their English – another benefit to their CV and their future job prospects.

Our apex staff members located in Germany, the USA and Australia are highly experienced and dedicated to helping your daughter or son have the best possible experience. You can be assured they will be in good hands before and during their time abroad.  We provide your daughter or son with significant support and information throughout the program – from information meetings and pre-departure training seminars in Germany to local support in the USA or Australia. We also offer support 24 hours a day and 7 days a week in the event of an emergency. In addition, our program includes basic medical and liability insurance – with the option to upgrade to premium insurance – for the entire stay abroad.

We encourage you to get to know some of our current and former participants and their host families and learn more about their wonderful experiences in our collection of video interviews. In addition, we encourage you to learn more about how experts assess a professional stay abroad, in this video from one of our partner schools.
